Description
The poster does not say it but the subdivision was called “Pope’s Estate” presumably the name of the family that owned the land for 70 years. Their land was on the north east corner Canterbury and Middleborough Roads and extended north to the southern side of Durham and east to cover both sides of Amery. Hirst Street splits the development.
