Altona Bay Estate 22nd September 1888 – Altona

Description

A company was formed early in 1888 to subdivide and sell 2715 acres of land. Very large ads appeared in the local newspapers in March and April 1888 setting out the prospectus. Advertisements for the auction first appeared in August and the first sale was on the 8th of September. The second was a week later on the 15th and the third one week after that on the 22nd. I could find only one report on the sales and that was in the Argus of the 8th of October saying:-

“Messrs W. H. Peryman and Co report having held a sale of the Altona Bay Estate to day. Over 70 allotments being sold ranging from 10s. to £2 7s 6d per foot. Total amount of sale £5,5680-10s-6d”
