Description
It was either the auctioneer or Mr. Troedel, the printer, who went all Christmas on us. “Canterburie”, they did not use that in their newspaper advertisements, just Canterbury. The auctioneer has written in the sale price of 10 of the 70 lots – nearly all in code but lots 11 and 12 must have been a good price (for the vendor) so the price is written clearly £4-10-0 per frontage foot. The development runs south from Canterbury Road between Highfield Road and both sides of Margaret Street until it covers both sides of Church Street. It then extends west along Church Street until the right-of-way.
