Description

A Sands & McDougall  poster from the 13th of October, 1888, only moments before the end of the land boom. Some lots went for £16 per frontage foot. This evidence came from a law case in August 1889 where a purchaser pay £16 per foot paid his £10 deposit but then tried to avoid the rest of the contract. He lost the case.  The land is south of the Kooyong railway station on the west side of Glenferrie Road. Many of the names have changed – Station Street is now Warra Street, Toorak Avenue is Monomeath Avenue and Railway Avenue is Power Avenue. Power Avenue is still Power Avenue, Glenferrie Road remains the same but the railway station’s name has changed from Toorak to Kooyong and has swapped sides.
