Description
It is very close to the end of the “Land Boom” and auctioneer Skinner is testing the market with auctions on three consecutive Saturdays. The first on the 6th of October, 1888, seemed to go well – reports in the newspapers on the following Monday disclosed the blocks on Moreland Road sold at up to £6-2-6 per frontage foot. Blocks on Victoria (now Saunders) sold from £2-10-0 to £3-10-0 per frontage foot and those on Reynard sold between £3-0-0 and £3-10-0. I could find no reports on the other sales and no advertisements for the originally scheduled sale on the 27th. The subdivision starts on the south side of Reynard Road and heads south to Moreland Road picking up both sides of Crown Street (now Donne), Queen Street and Victoria Street (now Saunders).
