Description
A very smart poster from 1888 of a subdivision that is bounded by High Street, Roseberry Avenue, Plenty Road and Gower Street. Drop the Town Hall site and you have the development. This is the third sale in this estate, the first being on the 15th of September, the second a week later. There was a fourth, and last, on the 6th of October. A newspaper report, Mercury and Weekly Courier of the 5th of October 1888, reported:-
Last week’s sale was very successful, prices realizing from £3 15s. in Gower Street, to £22 per foot in Plenty Road.
That would be £396 for a small shop site on Plenty Road in 1888.
